One Machine, Multiple Applications
CAI cup printing machines are engineered for high-speed, flexible production, meeting modern packaging demands with one versatile printing platform. Thanks to the modular design, the machine can be quickly adapted between plastic cups and paper cups, achieving speeds of up to 150 cups per minute for paper cups. It can also accommodate different cup sizes, shapes and printing requirements, giving manufacturers greater flexibility while reducing the need for multiple dedicated machines. One machine, multiple materials and applications — a truly versatile solution for modern cup printing.

Seam-Free Positioning Printing
Traditional paper cups feature a visible side seam that can affect printing quality and graphic consistency. CAI’s positioning printing technology accurately detects and controls the cup position, helping avoid printing directly over the seam and ensuring clean, consistent graphics. With printing precision of up to 120 LPI, CAI delivers sharp details and high-quality results even for demanding paper cup applications.

Application Cases of CAI Paper Cup Printing Machines

A European customer selected a CAI cup printing machine for printing 120 ml Nestlé coffee paper cups. The machine achieves a stable production speed of 150 cups per minute, delivering consistent and high-quality printing throughout continuous production. In addition to paper cups, the customer also uses the same machine to print plastic cups made from different materials, demonstrating CAI’s flexibility and multi-application capabilities. One machine enables the customer to handle diverse cup printing requirements while maintaining stable production performance.

A U.S. customer selected CAI’s S cup printing machine to produce a retail cup with consistent graphics across different materials and sizes. The customer prints EPS cups and 600 ml paper cups using the same machine, requiring frequent material and product changeovers while maintaining consistent print quality. Thanks to CAI’s modular design and flexible configuration, product changeovers can typically be completed within 30–60 minutes. This significantly reduces downtime and helps the customer improve production efficiency while handling multiple cup applications on one machine.
Yes. There is no fundamental difference in the printing process between plastic and paper cups. The main challenge with paper cups is the side seam created during forming, which requires precise positioning during offset printing. CAI’s paper cup positioning system accurately aligns the cup to avoid printing over the seam. Combined with fast changeover capabilities, the machine allows existing customers to switch efficiently between different products. For products with the same dimensions, no mandrel change may be required, further reducing changeover time.
CAI’s S and E models can be configured for paper cup printing. The maximum printing speed for paper cup applications can reach 150 cups per minute, depending on the cup specifications and printing requirements.
For cups with the same design, switching between different materials can take as little as 5–10 minutes. In a typical product changeover, the entire process can be completed within 30–60 minutes, including mandrel replacement when required.
